Problem with ‘Most Recent Entries’….

It has been brought to my attention that a lot of the links in the ‘Most recent entries’ on the right side of the page aren’t working..... there seems to be a software problem which we are working on.  All the entries can be found by using the ‘Monthly Archives’ links.

Until next time....

Site Updated….

I’ve made a few minor changes to the site....  on the Ride Description page is a link to a PDF (adobe reader required) with the route list and approximate dates as well as an update on the events of May 15th and the minor changes to the route on day 2 and 3....  There is a “Send Off” planned for 8:30AM on May 15th.... on Day 2 and Day 3 - I will be following Hwy 7 both days.... It was suggested as a much safer and more scenic route.... I like safer.... and scenic is good too!

There may be a few changes to the route as we go, but the plans are to stick as close as possible to the route and the dates.  As there are a number of things that could cause me to fall behind schedule I can’t promise I will be where the list says on the date given.  I can promise to do my best… and if something happens to change the schedule I will try to get it updated and notify everyone of the new schedule ASAP.... I have included “Rest Days” in the schedule.... these days may also be used to catch up to the original schedule if need be.

Until next time....

Happy Easter Weekend…..

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter Weekend....  Mine was like a dream.

With all the support we are receiving things are moving along with our plans.... Getting a support vehicle, especially a motorhome, has made planning so much easier.... We don’t have to have a number of backup plans going at the same time… We can finally just work on one plan. A huge burden has been lifted....

I am off to Calgary later this morning to check out the fleet at Cruise Canada to see what we will need and can get for the trip.  I am looking forward to it....  I love looking at motorhomes.... I may never own one, but it’s always fun to dream!

A lot of other things will be on the go as well.... I hope to get some WCB work done during the drive up and back.... as well as just have some time to visit with the friends I’ll be travelling with. We have a lot of things to discuss and they are always full of great ideas.... so it should be a very productive day.

Until next time....

Good Friday…. a Great Friday!!

Yesterday - Good Friday - started like any other day....  it was a nice morning - a little breezy - so I headed out for a little walk....  The news from Thursday about having the use of a motorhome making it a great day.  I got home and was checking my e-mail while doing a few other things.... then the phone rang.... Good Friday became a great Friday.

I picked up the phone as I was looking at the caller ID.... New York!  Hmmm I don’t know anyone in New York....  I do now....  The call was from Mr. Wade Thompson of Thor Industries.  Thor Industries just happens to be the largest manufacturer of RV’s and mid-size buses (from their web site).  I had sent a letter to Thor Industries asking for their help in getting a support vehicle for the ride.  A week later Cruise America called to say they were looking into it at the request of the CEO of Thor Industries - Mr. Wade Thompson.  Now I was on the phone with the CEO of a major company....

We had a good conversation..... we talked about my cancer… my prognosis… the ride.... a lot of stuff.... some personal some not....  by the end of our conversation I was in tears.... Tears of JOY!!!  Tears of excitement!!!  Mr. Thompson explained to me that they are paying the rental fee’s on the motorhome we are going to be using.... something I wasn’t sure of, but suspected.  He also offered support in other areas....  He is a fantastic man and very interesting to talk to.  His connections are unbelievable… his generosity is beyond words.... Thanks just didn’t seem to be enough, but it was all I could say…

He is helping us to spread the word about prostate cancer.... “Early detection of prostate cancer saves lives” He already does that in the U.S.A.  Thor industries is a Corporate Partner for The Drive Against Prostate Cancer.  He shared with me the fact that they have done PSA and DRE testing on over 45,000 men across America in the last 5 years.... In doing so, they have found that roughly 7% of them had prostate abnormalities....  These men were able to get treatment at an early stage and therefore have a far better chance of survival.  That’s over 3000 men that probably had their lives saved by having the tests. Early testing.... Early detection.... Saves Lives!!

WOW! What a day....

Until next time....
