New Pictures Online….

I’ve added some more pictures recently.... and I’ll try to add some every day until I have some from each of the days I rode.... there are a few days missing, only because on some of my ‘Rest’ days no pictures were taken. I’ve been trying to add a caption to most of the pictures.... It’s amazing how difficult that is at times....  I could probably write a story about most of them, but putting it down in a few words is quite a bit more difficult.

These last few days have been ones of extremes of emotion.... Sometimes very UP.... Sometimes very down....  I think I’m driving my family crazy.... but heck, they might as well join me!!  LoL

I’m down because some things just aren’t working out.... like my hoped for trip to the Ride for the Roses.... the Lance Armstrong bike ride in Austin, Texas.  I had hoped to be able to go this year.... Chances of that happening are now pretty much non-existent as the check I sent never made it....  I’ve tried ‘tracking’ it, but tracking stops at the border.... the only thing beyond that is confirmed delivery, which has not happened....  It should have arrived between September 4 and 8th.... But as far as anyone can tell, it still has not arrived.  Oh well, I’m now planning on next year.

Things really aren’t that bad.... I just wish, from time to time, that things would go our way.... we’ve had enough bad news around here.... we need some good news.... but I know it’s coming....

Until next time....

Prostate Cancer Support Group Talk….

Tonight I went to the local Prostate Support Group meeting to talk to them about my cross Canada bike trip.... Cycle for Life.

I’ve been working on this for a while now....  not quite knowing what to say.  Talking to guys as I traveled across Canada became quite easy.  I had a message to share with them. I had information to talk to them about.  This was quite different.... and not so different.  It took a while for me to figure that out....  I had worked on an outline for my talk.... trying to figure out what to say.... what order.... what’s important and what’s not.  In the end, I didn’t follow the outline.  Mostly because I misplaced it.... and partly because I knew I would have trouble following it.  I’ve gotten so used to just talking.... so that’s what I did.  I think it went quite well.  Cindy said I did ‘’Awesome”.... I wouldn’t go quite that far, but I think it went well.

There wasn’t a great turnout.... but it was a good turnout.  There had been some advertising done, but after a poll of the crowd it didn’t seem to have worked.  The really nice part was that a lot of women were in the group that did come.

I had a great time.... I was nervous today....  I’m not sure why, other than it’s been a while since I’ve talked to a crowd of more than 2 or 3 .... Once I got there and started setting up my laptop I relaxed. I had a 10 minute slide show put together for a quick overview of the ride.  That was probably the most difficult part of getting ready for the talk.....  I was asked to show some pictures.  That’s tough.... picking a few pictures out of thousands.... when each one is important to me....  But I managed to get a good selection put together.  I hope they enjoyed it.... I certainly did.... Lots of memories....  Even Cindy said it brought back some good memories and that she missed it too....  It’s nice to know I’m not alone in those feelings.

I think I have one or two more talks to do this year.... more if I’m asked....  It’s actually quite fun.

Until next time.....

Weekend Ride….

This past Sunday I went for a nice ride....  Actually, my son O.J. my friend Jean and I went for a ride. We decided to ride the Claresholm to Lethbridge section of my Cycle for Life ride.  May 26th was a cold rainy day.... the coldest of the entire ride.  Jean was not able to finish that day.... O.J. rode a bike that wouldn’t shift.... and I had a great time.... But Sunday was another story.  The weather was great.... The bikes were working great....  We had a fantastic ride.  93.44 km....  Other than a little sunburn for O.J. and Jean, everything was fantastic.  We were able to have a great visit....talking about the Cycle for Life ride.... lots of memories.... plans for the future....  A much better day for everyone!!

As for plans for the future - I am still hoping to make it to the Ride for the Roses ( RftR ) next month.  It is an invitation only ride now.... unfortunately.  To get invited you have to raise a minimum of $15,000 US....  I am currently about $2000-2500 short of that goal....  But I am still working on it.  Cycle for Life is still taking donations for all three charities.  I still have t-shirts to sell....  and I keep trying to get something set up online for that, but I’m just not finding enough time to get it done.

Until next time....
