A couple of great days!!

The last two days have been fantastic....  I was able to visit with some friends.... meet some new people.... and came home with cool things!

Wednesday night was the award night for those with 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of service with the City of Lethbridge.  We were each allowed to pick an “award” which we received after socializing and a nice supper.  The night was very well attended and we had a blast.  I was awarded with a City of Lethbridge 25 year ring.  The whole night was fantastic....

Thursday morning was a ceremony celebrating Firefighters with 20+ and 30+ years of Fire Service as well as for those who have worked in the Emergency Medical Service for 12+ years.  I got my Fire Service Exemplary Service Medal of Canada along with a number of others whom I have worked with over the years.

Receiving my Fire Service Exemplary Service Medal of Canada

After all of the medals were handed out I was presented with an gift from the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services....  The Chief said some kind words and presented me with a beautifuly framed remembrance of my ride to congratulate me on the efforts I have made to promote prostate cancer awareness to Firefighters and others.  It was a very emotional moment....

Chief Brian Cornforth presenting me with gift.

Chief Cornforth asking if I would like to say a few words....

The Chief asked if I would like to say a few words.... All I thought was “NO, I really don’t” .... but for some reason the word “YES” came out of my mouth.... so I stepped up to the podium and stumbled through a thank you....  It actually wasn’t that bad.... now if I could only remember what I said.... on second thought, maybe it’s better that I don’t!

Until next time....

Time is flying….

I can’t believe it’s already approaching the middle of November.... it doesn’t seem like that long ago that I completed my bike ride.

This past week has been very hectic.... and very sad… We mourned the passing of a family member....  Fred fought lung cancer.... and put up a valiant fight until the end.  He certainly showed us how to LIVESTRONG throughout his painful battle.  We will all miss you Fred!  Cycle for Life is currently accepting donations in Fred’s memory.... with those donations going to help other cancer patients in Lethbridge.  The final recipient is still undecided, but it will be something in Lethbridge that will directly affect cancer patients.

There are a few planned events taking place this week.... and we’ll also start getting ready for Christmas.  This week there are two ‘events’ happening.... I will recieve a 25 year ring from the City of Lethbridge.... yup, I’ve worked for the City of Lethbridge for over 25 years now… it’s hard to believe… it’s gone so fast.  I will also receive the Fire Service Exemplary Service Medal of Canada for 20+ years of service. I think both of those will be cool events....  I, of course am not the only one receiving these honors… there are numerous others as well.... I look forward to the events and to visiting with a few of the people I used to work with.

Until next time....

My Apologies….

It seems someone has been having a good time at my expense.... and yours....

I was recently notified by a friend that someone has been posting web site addresses to the comments section of a few of my posts....  These were not sites I would send anyone to. Some were adult sites.... some were sites that would infect an unprotected system with Trojan’s or viruses…

I have removed all that I could find....  I will do my best to keep them off this site....  if it does continue, I will remove the comments section until I can make it more secure.

Again, I apologize if you were one of the unfortunate people to view the messages.
