My Doctor Visit….

What a great way to spend the afternoon on Valentine’s Day....

After a nice lunch with Cindy, I headed over to the hospital for my appointment.  After driving around for 15 minutes I finally found a spot to park....leaving me just enough time to get to the docs office in time for my appointment.  Being the first time I’ve seen this particular doctor (as a patient that is), I had to fill out a history form.  Nothing to difficult.... half an hour later the doc calls me - it’s my turn.

We talked about my medical history....about the radiation treatments and the probability that’s what is causing the bleeding.  Then we talked about how the prostate cancer was found.  Next it was up on the exam table for.... The EXAM.... by this point, it’s certainly nothing new.... After palpating my abdomen it’s time to assume the fetal position for the old digit exam.  After that the doc uses a small scope - he explains it’s no where near what he will use for the colonoscopy- to check out my bowels.  There is definitely irritation at the approximate site of the radiation treatments, so we are pretty sure that nothing else is going on.  That being said, he is going ahead with the colonoscopy - just to be sure there is nothing else going on.... Let’s catch it early this time if there is something else!!!

So now I wait for the date of the colonoscopy....  hopefully it will be soon....

Thankfully I was able to cook a great supper for Cindy and I....  A nice quiet evening, just the two of us....  that salvaged a not so exciting afternoon.

So, how did you spend Valentine’s Day??

Until next time....

Recent Happenings….

I received an email last week from Michelle Mackay, a freelance writer doing an article for the Canadian Fire Chief - Annual Directory.  She has been asked to do a story on volunteer/charity work done by firefighters across Canada.  She was directed to me because of my ride last year.  She asked to do a phone or email interview with me, so we arranged for a phone interview for this past Monday.

The interview went well - at least I think it did.  The article sounds quite interesting and I’m looking forward to reading it.... I just have to get a copy.  She asked some great questions - some of which I was able to answer easily, others took a lot of thought. Since the article isn’t about me and the ride so much as the charity work that firefighters do across Canada it should be okay.

Now it’s back to the worrying and waiting.... off to see a surgeon Wednesday afternoon....  hopefully we can take care of a problem that has come up over the past 3-4 months. I’ve developed a little bleeding problem that we have to investigate....probably a result of the radiation treatments....but we won’t know until the right tests can be done. So far the docs don’t seem too concerned - but they weren’t too concerned about the blood in my urine in 2004 either and that didn’t turn out well at all! Updates as I can....

Until next time....

Reliving the Ride….

I’ve been going through the photo albums again.... I still enjoy going back and remembering all the events surrounding the photos.  So many memories....

I’m also waiting for a DVD of photos and video from the ride.... I have a couple of friends working on it.... at least I hope they are!!  LOL I made a little video of some of the photos put to music....but I never got around to working with the video… So I am really looking forward to seeing what they come up with!

Until next time....
