Results Time Again…

I just got home from the cancer centre and a visit with my doc… The news is good once again!!  Always happy when the news is good....

My PSA’s, although slightly higher than the last one in February of this year, but not up enough to worry about!!  They went from 0.2 to 0.4… We’ll test again in 5 or 6 months and see where we are at that time.  Then we’ll plan the next test from there...if things move up slowly, then we’ll just continue to monitor at 3 to 4 month periods...if they are moving up a little faster, then we’ll test sooner… but in any case, for now, it’s time to just relax and enjoy life!

Healing from the sigmoidoscopy with cauterization is moving along.... should be back to normal in the next few weeks… Not that there is anything major happening...but normal body functions are totally out of whack right now...and it normally takes a few weeks to get everything back on a more normal time frame… The good news is that there has been no blood in over a week...which is totally out of the norm after having the cauterization done...at least in the last couple of procedures… and pretty much since the first year after radiation… Hopefully that will continue for some time… Since I’ll be going back for another sigmoidoscopy in late November or early December, maybe...just maybe we can skip the cauterization!!  I can only hope at this point… but at least there is that!

Until next time....

The Latest Fun!

Well, here we are in September… the summer went by extremely fast...and with the lack of any sustained summer like weather, it was fairly quiet.  We managed a few days of camping...a few days of relaxation… some visiting with family and friends… Although I never managed to get out for a bike ride (it’s been over a year since I’ve gone for a ride) it was a nice summer.

I had my last Eligard injection back at the end of February… I was hoping to notice some relief from the hot flashes and joint pain, but that hasn’t happened yet...and it might not happen (although I remain optimistic)… I had my PSA test done last week, and go see the doc for results in another week… When the numbers do go back up, I’ll start the Eligard again to bring them down… we’ll keep playing that game until it stops working!

Today was a crappy day....well actually Sunday was actually crappier...LOL Sunday I did my ‘cleansing’ diet for the sigmoidoscopy that was done today… Argon was added to the mix to cauterize the problem areas from the radiation… 3rd time I’ve had cauterization...the first two times was during a colonoscopy...while sedated… Today was a treat as we went without any pain blocking sedation… It wasn’t really painful...just very uncomfortable… and surprisingly painless during the cauterization… It’s only been about 5 months since the last burn job...and with the extent of the problems found today, the doc wants to to this again in 2 to 3 months… YIPPEE!!!  I’m hoping that there is a LOT LESS blood over the next few months...maybe NONE at all… Now that would be sweet… Oh, the fun of post radiation!!

I’ll post a gain next week after I get my PSA results…

Until next time....
